Bio: Written by Michael Olliffe. Talamere began in 2004 after Victoria Roberts outgrew her musical beginnings in the two-piece Bastion, and decided to move into a solo career. After picking up an electric guitar and turning the reverb dial all the way up, Talamere earned comparisons to Cat Power, Shannonwright, Bright Eyes and Low.Roberts' music is often sparse and repetitive. It captures a reflective, bittersweet mood, be it happiness or something familiar, haunting, comforting and cinematic. Somehow the weight of solitude and intimacy lifts, as stolen moments are carved into a sound that echo sadness and beauty. “Sunday Afternoon” translates the gentle isolation into something that’s lament, assurance and escape. It’s not misery and self-pity though; it’s more mystery and an engaging quietude. In addition: Talamere intends to start recording an album for release late 2007. |
